replacing existing kitchen light

I have a single 100W light in my kitchen wired to 2 switches. I want to swap it out for 4 LED recessed light (14.5W/each). Ok to just redirect wires from old fixture to new LED and wire all LED's together?

Suggestions on product to use? I did a quick search on home depots website and was going to purchase 6" LED housing and 6" LED trim (commercial elec).

As long as all the connections are made in junction boxes that are accessible, no problem.

This made me think of something. I have recessed lights in my basement that I know are wired in series. There is no way to access the junction boxes in the light housing as the ceiling is finished. Is this legal?

Most times the boxes are accessible from the light it self.

The connection box on a pot light can accessed by either going in through the pot or removing the pot from the mount.

If they were in series, they would be might dim. Also one bulb burning out would take them all out. I think you mean linked or daisy-chained.

If it is a remodel can you release the clips and lower the can. New construction cans usually have screws that will let you release the can and lower it out of the frame.

used the type of cans that have the junction box attached. Wired one circuit this weekend, easier than I originally thought (snaking the wires turned out to be easier than I thought), and it came out great. Going to put a couple more in, but going to wait and see where I end up putting the island in the kitchen.
