Replacing a boat lift motor from a MagneTec to a Dayton. Need help on wiring.

Installing a Dayton #6K376. The wiring is different from the MagT motor I removed. Wiring diagram on housing is vague. No additional info inside. Need advice on where to land blk, red, Org & white on the motor. The control switch is a forward, stop and reverse.

What voltage are you operating this at?

Can you take a close-up picture of the motor's nameplate, and also the wiring terminal block, with the cover removed?

here is that motor might be either CW or CCW wired either but not for that application...Grainger has a tech line for motor to cross reference that Magnatec call your local Grainger they can give it to you... http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg...N=0&sst=subset

The wiring diagram on the motor is your diagram. If you do not understand it, ask someone who does. I do not see the diagram on Grainger's web site.
You could also call Grainger and ask them to fax you a drawing. Can you take a good picture of it? Post it if you can.

The problem here is the motor's wiring diagram would only show a permanent connection, with the rotation direction set.

In the case of an application where one needs to be able to reverse rotation using an external switch, the starting winding connections need to be removed from the motor's terminal strip, and routed thru the double-throw reversing switch on the lift controls.

This is more complicated than the motor's nameplate would be able to deal with, and requires some knowledge of wiring and circuitry to connect right the first time....
