replacing the baffle trim only on my recessed lights
So I want to upgrade what I have now which are black interior baffle trims 6". I think the white baffle trims are nice and found some for as low as $1.87 which of course makes me suspicious. They are PAR30/BR30/PAR38/BR40 Universal. There is also on the same web site "heat resistant" replacement trims for $3.98 which are PAR 38/BR40. I can't seem to find out what the difference is. Will either work? Is the non heat resistant dangerous? Please advise..
I would be very suspicious of trims that are no-name brand for $1.87 online.
What you need to do is take down one of your existing trims and find out what manufacturer they are. Also if you can found out the manufacturer name and part number of the light housing itself (usually there is a label with this info that you will be able to see inside the can when you remove the trim). Once you have the manufacturer and part numbers you can cross reference either online or at a lighting supplier, maybe even Home Depot depending on what brand you have, and you will be able to find a trim that you like and will be compatible with your fixtures.
