Replacing 12V transformer for recessed lights

Hi,
My 4" Halo MR16 12V lights stop working so I checked and found nothing coming out from attached magnetic transformer,
I'm trying to replace it, these days they all electronic and on ~bay I see a lot of them in plastic housing, will it work re fire safety? Or do I need to put in metal box still, appreciate you advice and feeds.
I have nonIC ceiling.

Or maybe time to put 120V light?

This is my fixture:
