Replaced all circuit breakers still not working?

Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Outlets in master bedroom will not work after trying to reset the 15 amp breaker. I replaced the breaker but still no response. I also replaced the wall outlets thinking it may be the combination. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thnak you.

Go get a meter and start at the panel...

Some thoughts:

1- are you sure it's the right breaker?
2- could there be a switch controlling the outlets?
3- have you used a test meter or light to see if the breaker (original and replacement) was bad or not?
4- Is anything else affected?


Maybe there's a connection somewhere between the outlets and the breaker causing the problem (backstabbed outlet or bad pigtail connection elsewhere in the circuit)

There could be a GFCI elsewhere that might be covering your master bedroom (unlikely but possible)
How old is this wiring?

Thank you for the help.
1 I'm not sure on the breaker so I replaced all of them.
2 Yes there is a switch and I have turned it off and on.
3 I have not yet used a tester but have used a light and see no visable damage...I am buying a meter tomorrow.
4 Yes, also the ceiling fan/light is not working.

The wiring is probably too old to consider new if that makes any sense.

With all due respect, call an electrician. You have probably done a lot of work for nothing. You "sound" to me like your in just a little too deep.

I just wanted to highlight this to stress the importance of a proper panel schedule.

wrxry, it sounds like you have a loose wire somewhere, probably between the breaker and the first outlet. You need to do some homework before anymore troubleshooting.

Start at the panel. Spend an afternoon LABELING IT. Get someone to help you, or use a radio. Start at one end of your house. Plug something in, and start flipping breakers. When that outlet goes dead, write it down (Kitchen counter, left of sink breaker 1 - top left) then go around with a lamp or something portable and check all other outlets to see what else that breaker controls and WRITE IT ALL DOWN.


Once you know what breaker controls this bedroom, start tracing it FROM THE PANEL, look for junction points, etc. CHECK ALL CONNECTIONS. Pull out all the non working receptacles and look for backstabbed connections and change them to using the screws. CHECK ALL CONNECTIONS.

Check the receptacles on the circuit that are still working. Could be a loose connection on the outgoing wires at that point.
