Removing a light source from a 3 way switch

HELP... Please... We wired our lights for the stairs together on a 3 way switch. However, it wasnt until the walls were completed, painted and finished that I realized it was all wrong. The light at the bottom of the stairs should be on a single light switch and the light at the top of the stairs should stay on the 3 way light switch as is. Is there a way we can seperate them without completely riping apart the walls? Although its not a HUGE deal... I absolutely HATE that the front door cant be lit up without the light in front of the bedrooms being on as well.. please please please help

Hi.

Sorry, but your post does not make too much sense, as written. Can you provide more information?

Do you have double gang boxes at the top/bottom of the stairs; or is it just one switch on top and two switches at bottom, or vice versa?
Do you know where your light legs are?
Do you know where your hot legs are?

Your post is very vague. Is this one light with two 3 way switches, or 2 or 3 different light legs with several switches all together in a double/triple gang box?

Also, it sucks when it happens, but ripping up a wall/ceiling to rewire is not that big a deal, but it will cost a couple/few hundred bucks.

Good luck.

Do you remember where (which switch box or light fixture box) the power feed comes in?

I have a cheap solution for you.

Take the bulb out of the bottom fixture and buy a floor lamp.

There might be a way to do. If you tell us how the cable are currently run between the switches and the fixtures we can can assist you.
