Removing lamp holder

2 Attachment(s)
We have two of these brass over porcelain lamp holders. I would like to remove them without destroying the brass but I can't figure out how to get the switch (the key, I think) pulled out so the brass cover comes off to get to the screws. Anyone seen these or similar? Should the key just pull out, screwout or is there some trick to it normally. Any input is appreciated.

if you notice that the switch doesn't go through a hole it is a slot. i think the out sleeve around the socket slides off.

Try turning a few times in the counter clockwise direction to see if it unscrews.

I can't get to the one right now but the other that looks the same but has "H&K" on the switch I can't do either things mentioned. Turned counter clockwise a few times and it just clicks without coming out any. Pulling on the socket brass doesn't seem to do anything. Any other suggestions.

I'd guess the knob is on a spline and can be pulled straight out.

With how much force? I've pulled on it some but haven't gotten it to move.

This is my vote, the lower brass part around the threaded insert should pull off straight down, may need to wiggle, tilt and twist some.

Make sure the entire circuit is off at the breaker first!
