Removing baseboard heater in bathroom
I'd like to remove the small baseboard heater and thermostat in my bathroom. The heater is located behind the flush. I don't use it and it's all rusted etc.
To remove the heater I must install a flush mounted junction box to terminate the wires. I'm not sure about the thermostat. There are two other baseboard heaters on this one circuit so I don't think I can simply pull the wires out.
So I'm left with an ugly junction box in place of the ugly baseboard heater.
Is there any other way I can do this ?
Here's a pic of the heater.
I'm in the process of installing a new flush and flooring and thought I would take care of the heater in the process.
Hopefully there's another way. I guess I could leave it there and paint it :(
Where is the t stat?
You should be able to remove the wire back to the t stat and put a blank cover there.
When I redid my floor I unscrewed the baseboard from the wall and just left it loose until the floor was finished then just put it back down to the floor and re screwed it with new screws. I would do that unless your really dead set on removing it . Most wire have enough play to lift it a little, shut power off.
The stat is in the top right corner in the pic.
If I removed the wire back to the stat wouldn't that leave me with a junction box on my wall in place of the stat?
As you can tell I don't do any electrical. I normally get an electrician but I thought I would look into doing this myself first.
Thanks for the responses.
Maybe the key is to use it more to keep it from rusting.
In order to get it to look better I'm either going to have to replace it or sand it down and paint it.
Removing it permanently I'm still unsure about.
Thanks for your suggestion.
