remodel recessed housing proximity to stud

The clip on the remodel housing such as H99RT.. how close can I install it to the ceiling stud?

I took out a previously nailed in ceiling box and there is a hole in the ceiling, I wanted to put a 4" unit there. However I got the new construction housing and found out no matter what it cannot be positioned that close to the stud.

I am hoping the remodel housing would work. Since the clips are spread out 4 ways. I will also cut the new 4" circle a little further out if I can.

I have no Ideal, I just didn't want you to feel like no one is awake out here but you, best wishes with you ceiling. If you don't have certain codes where you live could you place it where you want a patch the hole that's left?

Thanks.. the hole is where I want my recessed accent light actually, my ceiling has popcorn so for now I will not be able to match the repair nicely if I relocate it. So definitely want to use the existing hole enlarge to 4" and go for this.

Yes, as an apartment manager the maint had to use it, it can be messy though and takes practice.
