Recessed lights for the bathroom
In other areas of the house I mostly used HALO H7T, where a smaller lights are preferred like hallways I use H99T.
However I can't seem to find a good one for the bathroom, a recessed light that is rated for wet locations.
I got a few 5 inch HALOs, and have the 5050PS trim, but I wasn't happy with them because I don't like the protruding shield, and most of the shower lights with glass shields are very dim once you add the shields.
I then ran into the Lithonia recessed lights, they have one that seem to have the look and function I wanted. Here is their catalog. Go to page 4.
The WET-LITE series. "Wet-Lite™ The industry’s first no-lens trims are
UL Listed for wet locations. These trims provide 40 times more light than the standard wet location listed lensed trims. The Wet-Lite is ideal for applications that require higher light levels, whether in private residence, assisted-living facilities or nursing homes. Shipped with lamp included."
You install the standard 4" housing, then you use this special WET-LITE trim, there is no glass shields like the others, the lamp is the glass shield and it seems to take up the whole space around the trim.
This solves the problem of bathroom recessed lights being always dimmed, or does it?
The only problem is, my local home depot no longer carry them. Online order of these items are 30% higher than what HD used to price them at plus now we add in a substantial shipping charge. So now I am weighing my options. Anyone knows if there are other brands with a similar clean look and design where they don't block out 80% of the light with a frosted glass shield?
