Recessed Lights

Is it OK if the housing of a Halo H7ICAT comes in contact with a wood joist? I know it's made to come in contact with insulation, but not sure about wood or other combustibles. Also, I'm planning to install 6 cans all about 4-5 feet apart. When I run the romex between cans in a daisy chain fashion, do I need to staple the romex somewhere between cans?

Thanks,
Goose

close to wood not a problem. It is always a good idea to staple wire if you have access, but not a necessity. If between floors, it is often impossible. Wires should be kept 1 1/4" away from surfaces where nails/screws may penetrate.

Recessed Lights

Thanks Just Bill. That makes sense regarding the staples. I'll be in my attic to install the lights. Will one staple between lights be good enough?
