Recessed lighting question

I am remodeling an older home (35 years old) and it seems nothing is standard. I was replacing recessing can lights in my family room and it seems that the opening is 7" rather than 6". Do they make a 7" -- I thought they were standard at 6". If I can't get a 7", does anyone have any suggestions outside of patching in new drywall.

Thanks,
Randy
