Recessed Light & Plumbing

Is there a minimum distance requirement between recessed light and plumbing? My plumbing is copper and black pipe.

Thank you for your help.

Recessed Light & Plumbing

I would think anything more than a couple inches is OK. I just redid my bathroom, and I had a PVC drain pipe a little too close for comfort to the top of my halogen recessed fixture in the shower, especially with the shower trim trapping all that heat.

What I did was wrap the PVC pipe with heat-resistant tape. I got this tape from the auto parts store:

I just cut it into strips and wrapped it around the pipe. I'm not sure how the adhesive would react with the copper and black pipe though.

As long it is not plastic pipes you are ok with minum distance but if you going to replace the steel or copper pipes with plastic then you will need few inches away from the recessed luminaire unit.

Merci.
