Question

Recessed Light Installation

hi everyone! newbie here. i did my first recessed lighting installation this morning but it didn't work. here is the situation. i have a single 50watt bulb on the bar with a single switch. i added the three 50watt halogen recessed lighting by connecting to the electrical box of the original single light in a parallel circuit. after connecting all the three additional lights when i turned it on only the original light turns on. haven't checked it if there are loose connection i was in a hurry in the attic because i can't breath my mask is soaked with my sweat. it was so damn hot. my questions are
1.did i make the right connection?
2. how will i check the the maximum wattage of the circuit? I'll be adding 150watts which makes the total to 200.
3. will i be overloaded at 200 from 50?
thank you in advance

Recessed Light Installation

What else is on this circuit?
Is it a 15a or 20a circuit?
All lights or outlets too?
Usually adding 150w won't be a problem
Where did you connect the wires, at the light or the switch?
---seems like the light since you were in the attic
Did you verify that there was power at the light & it isn't just a switch loop?
Is there only 1 switch that controls the old light?
