When I install recessed cannister lighting do I need to run the wire to where the light is going to be prior to nailing the light into the basement joists? I am just wondering if the portal where the wire goes into the cannister is accessible after it is nailed in or if it would be easier to hook it up before I nailed it to the joist.
I usually install the fittings(bx or romex connectors)first. Easier on the ground I figure.
The little metal slide fittings can be removed and reinstalled a 1/4 turn if the access panel is inaccessible the way the hanger came from the factory.--MIKE--
Oh, Don't forget to lock the can to the hanger(set screw or crush a tab) so that they don't move when you install the drywall!
