Recessed can replacements, G24 CFL to LED. Wiring issues

I currently have recessed cans in my kitchen that use g24 cfl bulbs. I would like to replace them with LED retrofit kits from Ecosmart. These kits use an adapter with 2 wires on it (black and white) I replaced a few cans in another part of my home using these and it was quick and easy. Now that I've moved into the kitchen I'm not sure how the 4 wires in the cans will condense down to 2 or if that's possible. I can't remove the housings since they are new construction cans so I need to see what my options are.

Thanks in advance!

Those cans use a ballast to light the G24 lamp. You won't be able to use the retrofit kit without removing/disconnection and rewiring the can. That being said, if you do disconnect the ballast and rewire the can, you are changing the way the can was designed and thus voiding the listing.

Bottom line, those retrofit kits cannot be installed in those type cans legally unless the kits instructions specifically say they can be installed in that can.

Thanks for the ultra fast response.

I'll wait until a kit comes out that is designed for my housings. I really hate the G24 bulbs. They are impossible to remove for some reason.i always end up breaking them and removing the remnants with needle nose plyers. Argh. Was hoping to be more green and less frustrated by using LEd's.

You might want to look into GU24.

I had to look up G24....because I thought you really meant GU24.

GU24 is a different base that qualifies as high effeciency....you can get both CFL's and LED bulbs in that base type....
