Recess lighting

We are putting in 6 inch recess lights in our basement. Not sure how many to put? The area is about 20' by 24'? It is all one open area but we are putting a tv area in one part which is about 10' by 14' and the other area is just a game room. Any advice will help?

Recess lighting

If our going to feed them off a new circuit from the panel (20amp ) you can run as many as 12-15 safely , you can put them on dimmers also to get the mood right . If an existing circuit is feeding them you better use an amp probe to find the load on it and go from there.

Recess lighting

How high this basement ceiling will be at ?

Typically for that size room useally 12 to 18* with BR65 bulbs for other size bulb it may change a bit.

And if you are plan to use the dimmer make sure you have proper sized dimmer to handle the load of the luminaires { I always go with max wattage it listed the luminaire }

Merci.
Marc

* all it depending on bulb , trim both will affect in some degree and the surface reflectiotive is.
