receptacle switch

I'm trying to find a device that's like a receptacle switch except that the switch activates the receptacle, not another device like a light.

receptacle switch

Are you referring to the receptacle/switch combos that have an outlet on the bottom and switch on the top? If so, I believe you can wire those so that the switch controls the outlet.

The device should have a brass strap connecting two of the screws on one side. Hold the device with that side to the right. Assuming the switch is on top:

Connect the incoming neutral to the lower left screw, and the incoming hot to the upper left screw. Connect the ground wire to the ground screw. Done!

If what I'm saying doesn't match up with what your particular switch/outlet looks like, let us know and we'll go from there.

receptacle switch

All of these receptacle switch combos let you choose whether you want the switch to control the receptacle or to control something else (or to control both the receptacle and something else).
