Really basic question regarding materials


What material are the prongs on an electrical plug made out of??

and

The thin wire that comes from a mobile phone charger which runs upto the connector, what material is that made from??

Designing an asthetically appealing phone charger as part of a project i've been set, doing a general assembly drawing and need to list the materials it would be made from.

Will that do ya??

Really basic question regarding materials


The plug prongs are usually made of brass.

The wire should be copper, covered with flexible plastic.

Some plastic parts including electric cord plugs are made of plastic that does not melt when hot, at least not at temperatures most people associate with melting plastic. I should say ... does not re-melt ... since it was molten when molded at the factory into the shape it currently is in. (The plastic will still burn.) The trademark Bakelite applies to one such kind of plastic.
