Question on 240v to ac(window unit)

I just replaced a window unit with a newer one. The new unit requires 30a-240v. I have a little experience wiring regular 3 wire B/W/G or bare. This new outlet and unit came with some instructions. It calls for 4 wires but i only see connections for three wires on the outlet...here's the exact instructions:

"Connect green(ground) wire to green terminal and white(neutral) to silver terminal. Connect black and red(hot) one to each remaining terminal."

The problem is there are only 3 terminals on the outlet. My dad (who has a little more experience them me) says to connect the ground to green screw and the hot (red and black) to the other two screws. Is this correct and what about the neutral?
