Purpose of wiring?

Bought a 1972 house. It has bare wires coming out of the end of the hall way in the upper corner about a foot down form the ceiling and a foot in from the wall. Does anyone know what these could have been used for, its got us baffled. The wall has a light properly centered on the wall so it wasn't once a light and the doorbell is also identified. The wires can be traced back to the box so they were live. We just capped them, but can't figure out what they may have been for.

Could be abandoned alarm system wiring. How about a high-resolution pic of `em?

Smoke detector?

What type of wires? If these wires carry line voltage, they should be inside a junction box to say the least.

They are in a box. We have put a plate on it. Not exactly something we want at the top of a wall, but the best we could do.

Purpose of wiring?

Some case a former owner is deaf and some time they will use the indenscent bulb with lamp holder to hold the lamp for flashing light when someone hit the doorbell and the lights blink.

But really the best answer is take a photo one of us can able indentify it.

Merci,
Marc
