Not that anyone other than a qualified person should do this... but you want to eleminate all load on the meter before pulling it. Otherwise it can get exciting! Think big arc.....

Okay i see where yout coming from, i thought you were implying that by turning off the main breaker it ouwld kill the power.

Price of Pulling Meter off house.


I've got the meter box open and I climbed my aluminum ladder to get at the wire hanger. It's quite a reach to get to the service cable but I think I can jump the ladder over a little closer. It's raining quite heavy now but that shouldn't be a problem, I'm wearing a rain coat. Now, what do I do with this siding ring that I bought at HD?
Joking, of course; I'm having a pro do it.

If the rings give you alot of trouble, wet it all down good with a garden house and pull it off with your bare hands.....or consider using a torch....
