Powering a 240V stick welder with a portable generator.
I want to power my Lincoln 225 stick welder (240V NEMA 6-50 plug) with a portable generator (240V 6-30 receptacle). Could you explain how to wire a jumper for that? I know I'll be limited to lower welding settings but never use over 105 anyway.

Techy's adapter cord is a good solution. An alternative would be to get a dryer cord with a 6-30 plug and install it on the welder, replacing the existing cord. If you never use the higher current settings and will usually use it with the generator, this might be a neater solution.
