They say this about one of the most successful people in the Business world, who ushered in the Computer and Internet world as we know it today! There might be some truth to it. (Now more than ever) Don't Drink and Drive!!!
By the way, his biggest gaff was overlooking the residue deposited on the glass of his first light bulbs and missing out on developing the vacuum tube.
Ah, but he didn't overlook it. He was the first to place an electrode in the bulb and draw a small current from the emission. In fact, it's called the "Edison Effect". But he did dismiss it as a novelty or fluke, and others figured out how to use it. But, but, but, if he hadn't made that little observation, where might we be now? Or, perhaps more interesting, where would we be now if he had studied it in further detail?
