Please slap me upside the head!

I'm posting this so you will all slap me upside the head and I'll never do it again!

When we started the kitchen project a couple of weeks ago I pulled out the kitchen circuit (singular) that also had the basement lights on it. Since I wanted basement lights I rewired them to a temp switch in the kitchen. I remember it was late at night and I said (stupidly) to myself "Yes, I'm grabbing this run off a 20A circuit, but I want light and I've only got 14ga right now, I'll fix it later" so I ran a short run of 14ga wire on a 20a circuit.

Fast forward to last night and we're hanging sheetrock. I was tired and almost hung the rock over the temp switch. Went down the turn off the breaker, came up and removed the switch. As I'm doing so I notice the 14ga wire, and say to myself, "WTF, I just turned off a 20A circuit! What idiot did this?"

So I reran the wire with the correct 12ga wire. But point taken is never take a shortcut that you will "fix later" because you'll forget all about it and not fix it.

Now, please slap me upside the head a few times.
