Planning for solar panels

In the next couple months I will (hopefully) begin wiring my two story garage. It has a gambrel roof with one half facing south - perfect spot for panels.

What considerations do I need to make for eventually installing panels on the roof?

Do people typically install batteries in the attic or a ground floor due to weight?

Are there electrical components I'd need to figure in to my wiring plan now, which would make life easier when I install panels later?
