Pilot Light Switch with two black, two white and a red line. Lost?
When I removed the existing switch the whites and blacks were both on one mount. Can't remember the red location. New switch has a brass and silver on one side and a black and ground on hte other. Any help?
Connect both whites to the switch neutral terminals (usually silver).
Connect both blacks to the always hot terminals.
Connect the red to the switched hot terminal.
Connect the bare wires (if any) to the ground terminals.
If two wires want to go under one screw, cut a short length of wire (pigtail) of the same color (black and red interchangeable, green and bare interchangeable) and connect that to the screw. Connect the two ends in question to the other end of the short length using a wire nut.
It is not a good idea to take things apart without labeling the wires.
