Permenant wiring of undercabinet lights

I am installing undercabinet lights which were originally designed to be plugged into a wall recepticle (zip cord). I know that the zip cord cannot be installed directly into a wall. Is it acceptable to run the cord inside armored cable or conduit into the circuit box for direct wiring to a switch? It seems that this would give adequate protection to the cord and should meet code (it is not directly in the wall). It seems similar to running individual stranded wires through armored cable or conduit. I am in the US

The only compliant way to power the lights you have described is to plug them into a receptacle.
