Perfectemp pool heat pump stopped defrosting

I have a 5 year old Perfectemp heat pump for my outside pool and it has decided to stop defrosting itself.

Does anyone know if this is a common problem and/or how I fix it?

You would need to find out what accomplishes the defrosting. Common reasons for defrost failure include:
1. A heating element for that purpose has burned out.
2. A mechanical timer used to switch the heating element on and off (say once for one hour every 12 hours) has stopped running.
A schematic diagram, either in the manual or on the inside of a panel of the unit, would show the defrost mechanism and/or components.

One of 2 things....your clixon thermostat on the condensor coil or the electronic control board. It could also be the reversing valve but that would be my last pick.

You may want to pose this question in the HVAC forum as well.
