Paying too much for an electricity pill

We didn't use much of electricity but the kids turn the light on and actually didn't present there :furious: . Sometime, they were down the basement for couple minutes and the light was on for hours.

Now, I'm looking for a tool that I can plug-in or attact to the outlet. If the light is on and no one or object moving around for 15 or 30, the light will be auto turn off similiar to the light in front of everyone's house has.

Appreciated for the helps

You can buy motion detector switches that turn off when there is not enough activity.

You can adjust them for time and amount of sensitivity.

You probably will not save enough to pay for the switch considering the cost of electricity unless you really spend time getting it adjusted.

I put one in, but not for cost savings. - Now no one reminds me that the light was left on for a couplre of extra minutes. The good thing is that it traps her in the dark enough to realize something is being done.

These are becoming more common. Our new office has motion-activated lights in almost all areas. You can buy a combination motion sensor switch which will replace your existing light switch. All the models I've seen also have a switch built into them so you can turn them on/off manually as well. They're easily programmed, usually via little dip switches.

If you're comfortable replacing light switches this will be an easy mod for you. If not, talk to your licensed electrician.

The switches are often called occupancy sensor switches.
