I have a Tappan Millenia gas stove and the oven wont light. The glow bar glows orange with just a small section glowing bright yellow. do I need a new glow bar? oven is 12 years old.

That could be normal, or could be weak. Is there good gas flow? If you put a lit match near the igniter, does it light?

no I cant hand light, I believe its because of gas safety valve may not be opening if glow bar is not hot enough? does that sound right?

Pretty common problem on glowbar ignition ovens. There is a circuit that senses current flow to the ignitor. If it is out of range it will not allow gas flow. Confuses a lot of people as they see the ignitor glowing and think it is OK.
