Outside outlets not working

My outside outlets are not working. I reset at the GFI which is located in the garage, but once I plug my christmas lights in it trips the GFI. I even tried them one by one and same result. I plugged my electric razor in, did not trip outlet, but no power.

Help

You have just found your problem. Something is wrong with your lights. You can confirm this by plugging them into another GFI protected receptacle.

Ii just re-read that you don't have power at the receptacle. You might still have a GFI that you have not found.

Christmas lights trip the GFCI. Razor or other devices don't work.

Check the neutral for loose connection somewhere in the daisy chain back to the panel. (There is still a problem with the Christmas light strings.)

Also possible that there is a gfi breaker in the panel---look at your box---

With the power off at the breaker going to the outlet(s).

Check you connections in the outlet.
Press test THEN reset on the GFCI.
Check for other GFCI's on the circuit, and other loose connections on that circuit. (With power off)

If you can't trace down the breaker for the outlet you are working on, turn off your MAIN breaker. Yes, sounds rediculous, but better rediculous then deep fried.
