Outlet works but 3 light switches "die" after turning off
 

First of all, no changes have been made to the wiring in my house within the past 2 years.

In my bathroom the three light switches have stopped working ( one has a light over sink, second is a central light and a "fart" fan, third is light over the shower). Currently the outlet works. When i turn the breaker off the outlet looses power, and when the breaker is turned back on the lights will work until shut off for over 5 minutes (average, light switches must be "on" for the lights to power on when breaker is reset)

The breaker is not tripping, and from my voltage tester it seems like the light switches are not getting power after they stop working.

Prior to loosing power the energy saving bulbs would flicker when turned on starting about a week ago (all three switches have energy saving bulbs).

Any ideas what could be causing just the switches alone to "die"? I have tried all three switch without powering on the others and each one seems to be able to terminate the power and require a breaker reset.

How have you tested the circuit?

Have you pulled the wires out of the box and inspected the wiring? Wire nuts tight?

Does the wiring to the switches run through an outlet first (pass throug) or possibly powered from the load side of a gfci outlet?

Did you use a tester from hot to neutral?

Loose connection? Turn off the breaker and open the switch box and check all connections.

You most likely have a loose / dirty connecttion somewhere !
Could even be a bad breaker.
Could even be on the neutral side,
Even a faulty cable !
Start at the begining check undo and redo every join & connection.

To add another layer of confusion for me, the lights have started working today fter about 24 hours of not working (without a breaker reset) my wife noticed this first earlier today aftr turning the switches on by habit. I confirmed about 6 hours later by doing it myself out of habit.

I would have to say my wiring is possessed and its a good thing we are planning to sell!

Loose and faulty connections often do work intermittently, no mystery there.

Loose connections develop heat, heat may cause a fire! If you're selling it you will likely be on the hook for the repairs, if you knew they were required when you sold the place...If the wiring is aluminum, I would run far and run fast after you have a qualified electrician fix the stuff (aluminum wiring is not for a DIY'er)
