outlet near tub OK?

Anyone know what NEC says about how close a GFCI outlet can be to a tub? I would like to put an outlet about 6 inches to the side, and 2 feet up from the tub (the wall limits my options). Thanks

As long as you are outside the footprint of the tub, you are NEC legal.

You might want a weatherproof cover on that, it's closer than I would prefer to sprayed water. Might not look so good, but safer.

I would check with local electrical inspector on this one. Proximity of switches and recepticles to tubs and showers is one of those things with wide range of acceptance variations on the local levels. National codes or not, that would not fly in my area.
