outlet in kitchen cabinet

I am looking to install an outlet in my kitchen cabinet and is it OK to cut a square in the cabinet and drywall, slide a box in the hole and screw the front of box to the cabinet and then the outlet to the box. Is that OK to do or is there a better way?

If the wire is already stubbed into the cabinet, use an old work box and set it in the back of the cabinet.

The other way is to cut an oversize hole in cabinet and cut the box into the wall.

Either way is acceptable.

Not code in Ontario unless it is for a over the range microwave or range hood.
