Question

Outdoor wiring to pool pump

I live in Upstate NY. I have a deck that is attached to the house. The deck runs about 25 feet from the house to an above ground pool. I bought a new pump that I have to run AC to. Can I run outdoor rated cable from the box in the house along the underside of the deck, maybe stapling it to the deck rafters to an outlet somewhere close by the pump?

Thanks,
Steve

No, the ground wire has to be insulated. The receptacle has to be at least 10' away and gfci protected with an "in-use" cover. It can be between 5 & 10 by meeting other standards which I won't go into unless you want You can run conduit outside to a junction box inside then you're allowed to go to "cable" and no smaller than #12

Wirenut is right on.
You can run conduit under the deck. Anything out side MUST be conduit with individual conductors for ALL of the outside portion of the wiring to a pool motor.

Are you familiar with ALL the other codes regarding wiring and bonding a pool????

Outdoor wiring to pool pump

After I posted the question, I browsed the similar posts and was convinced that I would have an electrician do it. I have done a lot of indoor wiring. But I certainly do not know enough to wire outdoors to the pool pump. After all, safety's first.

Thanks guys!
