Is it possible to recess the box for an outdoor gfci?
We are in the process of wiring our home addition. We have bought a cover system that allows the outlet to be in use during wet weather. We also bought a plastic 'flange' that sits against the house siding snugly. My thinking was that the box can be recessed into the wall so that it doesn't protrude beyond the siding flange that we bought, but my spouse doesn't think so.
Is it possible (in code) to cut the house sheathing so only a small part of the box (weatherproof) protrudes beyond the exterior?
