Hey... I'm a new poster!

I have installed a new pool and now have the challenge of wiring the pool pump.
I have a run of 150 ft.
I have a sub box in the garage.
I can run either a 110 line (14 amp draw), or a 220 line.

My questions....

should i run the 1110 or 220?
what is code for running the wires to the back yard above grade?

I was thinking plastic conduit... but my home depot could not tell me code..

HELP... what is my "cost effective option"... I also need to install a GFCI breaker on my panel.

Pools require very special rules. Your calbe should be buried 18" if in conduit. I would run 240 volts.It will be lower current and less line losses. This will definitely require an inspection from ESA.

The Code requires a minimum horizontal separation between the inside walls of a pool and underground low voltage (less than 750 volts) electrical conductors of 1 M (39") where the conductors are buried in an electrical conduit, or 1.5 M (5') where the conductors are buried directly in the earth.

Note- the same clearances are required for buried communication and CATV conductors.

i want to run in conduit above grade. I cant dig a trench...
so my question is:

if I use 1/2 conduit, how many strands of 14guage wire can be accomodated. I dont want to run two conduits, so I need a 240v run (4 wire?) and a 120v run (3 wire)... do i need bigger conduit than 1/2 inch.

and I should use GFCI breakers for each run?

I don't know of any rules that allow conduit above grade. It would definitely need to be fastened to a structure like a fence for its entire length and I am not sure that is permitted.
You definitely can not just lay it on the ground.

yes, i was planning on attaching to a fence.

You will need to run 12gague wire at the minimum as you will need min 20amp feed.

I would personally run 30amps of power for future needs like lighting around pool and bury the conduit for sure too.
