Is there something wrong with one particular outlet, so that fixing one will fix them all? I replaced all four outlets with a friend from church who knows electricity (not certified electrician) and everything worked fine until my wife tried to run the microwave and the toaster oven at the same time.

They were plugged into outlets right next to each other. One in the outlet behind the refrigerator, and one in the outlet to the left of that one. All 4 bottom plugs died at the same time.

Sounds like these are wired as multi-circuit receptacles, either as 2 circuits or one multi-wire circuit. This is accomplished by breaking the tab connecting the two hot screws and, for 2 circuit wiring, the tab connecting the 2 neutral screws as well.

Check:
1. All circuit breakers
2. All GFCI's

If you have a multimeter check voltage at each rec - hot to ground and hot to neutra (or use a receptacle tester and let us know the results)

Quite often a heavy load can be the straw that breaks the camels back if one of the connections was loose.
