Go buy an old work fan box rated for 50 lbs. It will have a bar with brackets on the sides. As you spin the bar the brackets will move outward and bite into the ceiling joists.

I know. I was being facetious.

It is kind of hard to accurately answer a question like this considering the only detail we know is the support weight of the box.

A properly mounted fan box will support 50#.

it might be better if you post your intentions of use of this box,

what are you intending to mount/install to this box?

I am thinking perhaps he has a multi-story setup, where the downstairs dining room needs a 30# chandelier but the ceiling where it is to be mounted is actually a closed in closet space underneath a set of stairs that goes from the second to the third floor.

If that's the case I would just add bracing in that closet to build whatever you need to support that chandelier.
