Old electrical swag lamp

I have an old plug in swag lamp that recently died. Went and bought new light that I thought was plug in style as well - it's not. I pulled it out of the box, and it has wires coming out to hardwire it into the ceiling. I don't want to do this. Question then is this - - can I convert this new light into a swag style lamp by putting a plug on the end of it somehow? How do I do that?

Old electrical swag lamp

The plugs are available at any hardware store-----clip off a bit of the cord (for the size) and go to a hardware store and ask for help---the plugs are easy to install without tools.---Mike---
