On-Off Wall Switch for Gas Fireplace Flames
I have a gas fireplace and I want to install an on-off wall switch (for the fire/flames only) because the existing on-off switch is difficult to access (under the front bottom panel.)
Do I just buy a good quality on-off switch at my local home improvement store and install or is it more complicated than that?
That would most likely be fine. But with anything electrical it is a good practice to know what you are dealing with. If you remove your current switch it most likely will have ratings on it. Is there a transformer or is it just a high voltage solenoid?
But yes it is as simple as running new wiring to your new switch and installing a new quality switch (within ratings of application). Make sure you turn off your manual gas feed and power to the circuit before you start.
