NuTone 8663RP bath light and fan repair

In my newly bought house, the bathroom ventilation fan/light is making a grinding noise and shudders every once in a while. I opened it up enough to determine that it is the fan motor, still drawing air, but making the noise and shuddering occasionally.
A new one from Home Depot costs $129. Is it possible and/or worth it to find a replacement ventilation motor, or just replace the whole thing?

This is my first post, so please excuse me if this is not posted in the correct place, or if it is inappropriate in some way. Let me know!

Look at the motor....good chance you can buy a new one....the part # for the motor should be on the side....

Another option....go to HD....look at just vent fans....good chance a cheap one uses the same motor....might be cheaper to buy that and take the motor out of it.

Even if you are on the right track, you will still get run over if you just sit there.

You might only need a new blower wheel. See if that is loose on the motor shaft. Blower wheels are usually less than $10.

Thanks for the suggestions

Great idea to look for a fan-only model and switch out the motor. I'll look into that first, before opening up the motor and looking at parts. I'm not as DIY as that for the moment!
