Don't know if i should've started a new thread with this additional question, but here goes...

Would it be a good idea to do all the grunt work for a new Sub Panel install, and then just pay a contractor to connect it? (Run the cable through th drywall, down into my crawl space, and then over to the sub panel in the basement.

Would contractors not be interested in this?

You should ask this of your contractor, but if I were in his shoes, I wouldn't. Who would be responsible if the cable insulation was snagged while it was being pulled? What's to assure the cable is fastened/supported correctly? If you want to do something, get a quote for the sub-panel install, and do the rest AFTER you read and learn what is safe and up to code. Otherwise I'd suggest you get another quote.
