No power in 1 room (3 outlets) breaker appears to be fine

I have one room with three outlets in it, none of which are working. I am not entirely sure which breaker controls those outlets but using a multimeter, I verified all breakers are passing electricity through them. The over head light in this room does work, I am not sure if this runs of the same breaker or a different one, also not sure how to test that.

I removed all three outlets from the wall and with the multimeter verified that none of them are getting any juice.

I assume this means that the problem is between the first outlet and the panel, I'm just not certain how to track it down.

Think like an electrician---Where would you grab the power from for those outlets?

Basement? closet light? switch box? What is the nearest box to that run---?Is there a fourth outlet in the string?

Start by opening up any boxes in the vicinity of the dead string of outlets--

Your problem probably is in a working plug or switch, like Mike said start looking at the devices closet to your non working one and start there.

Like the others, i agree your issue is at another working receptacle with a broken wire leaving the box. Have also seen many a Homeowner tap from a GFCI incorrectly.

In which room of the house are these outlets not working?

Was this room added on?

Are there other outlets in this room?

Is there a ceiling light in this room and if so, is it working? Is it a ceiling fan and was that added?

Do you know if there are other rooms on this same circuit? Perhaps there is a label in the breaker panel? If yes, try turning the breaker off, then back on. If that does not work, turn it back off and see what else you lost power to...

I almost bet its a tripped GFI somewhere in the house.

Have you replaced the receptacles lately or did this power loss just happen all on its own?
