NMB under outdoor soffit


Will the NEC allow one to run NMB under the roof overhang (underneath the soffit)? I want to install lights there and would rather not have to run conduit if I don't have to. Presumably, the cable would be protected by the soffit, but I don't know if that would offer enough protection, since the soffit is perforated (continous vents), and there is, although extremely remote, a chance that water could come in contact with it...

NMB under outdoor soffit


Type NM cable is absolutely permitted in that location.
