New well pump / Genorator watts

I just installed a new well pump. It is a 3/4 hp 2 wire pump. I have a normal two hundred amp service coming in my house. The circuit breaker for the pump is a 20 amp. When the pump starts up each wire pulls 150 amps on my meter and runs at 7 amps. What size genorator do I need or I my amp clamp laying to me?

The breaker was sized to the load and it is 20 amps. Now why would you need to concern yourself with inrush current? Are you tripping the 20 amp breaker now?

Watts= amps x volts
20 amps x 220 volts = 4400 Watts
A 5000 watt genny should run the well pump with no prob.

Did you miss the two times that he said he was looking to size a generator to power the well pump??
