Question

New service panel + Generator transfer

I am putting in a new service panel tomorrow along with wiring up a generator disconnect / transfer panel.
I am putting in a 100A breaker in the main panel to feed the generator panel. The distance between the 2 of them will be less than 6 ft.
I have #3 copper that I can use, will this be okay to use for this circuit?

I will also be wiring up a 50A outlet in the garage for my welder in the near future. The outlet will be about 20-30 ft. away from the breaker.... what size will I need here?

And lastly, can I use the conduit as a ground for the generator plug panel outside to the generator panel or is it best to run an actual wire?
What size for this 50A plug panel for a 4 ft. run?

I have #3, #6 and #8 copper wire available to use.

Sorry so many questions, but I've found mixed answers everywhere I've looked so far.

Thanks!

Yes.

If you have #6, this will be perfect.

You could actually use a #10, but and a #8 will do nicely. No do not use the conduit as a ground in this application.
