New fixture wiring question
I am trying to install a new chandelier and do not have good instructions about how to connect the wires. In the electrical box, there is a black wire, a white wire and a bare wire. Coming out of the fixture, the wires are not black or white - so I don't know which to connect to the wires in the electrical box. Two of the wires appear to be identical - bundles of small silvery wires. These two bundles are encased in clear plastic. The third wire is a bare silvery wire, which I assume is a grounding wire. Can anyone help me determine how to properly connect everything?
Also, about the grounding - on the mounting plate, there is a green screw. Should I connect the grounding wire from the electrical box and from the fixture to this screw?
Ground is ground, you got that correct. Yes, do hit the bar and the wire.
The others are; smooth wires to the black and ribbed wires to the white. One wire will have tiny ribs along the length.
