Hahahah "badcock and more" sounds like the result after a very bad hockey fight.

New clamp meter question

Unless they have changed them:

Ideal meters are slow to react. Where I can grab a Fluke and check 6 different points with hardly a pause, with the Ideal I have to wait for it to read and settle. When I spoke to the Ideal rep about it, he says "well, it's not a bench meter. What do you expect?"

Ideal meters have a tendency to float when there is no connection to the leads. I have never had this problem with a Fluke although apparently some of the guys here have and accept it. I will not accept it as it is not right.

when I asked the Ideal rep about that, he says "well, it's not a bench meter, what do you expect?"

that is when I decided I would never buy another Ideal meter.

I'll buy cheap Chinese junk before I buy Ideal.

New clamp meter question

I dunno one of the journeymen I work with has the ideal 1000 Amp clamp meter and even though it shows that stray voltage that i am seeing, his meter is still very quick to get readings. It is kind of large but it is still a great meter. I only went with the fluke because they have one of the best reputations and alot of people that i have talked to swear by them. Others say get an Ideal and its the same thing.

New clamp meter question

as I said, they may have improved things but after the rep said what he did, I would rather buy Chinese junk than Ideal. They knew they had problems and refused to do anything about it. They lost a customer, for life. I hold grudges.
